We have been around the Shenandoah Valley for over 100 years and it has always been important for us to give back to the community that has nurtured us. As a family business operating in a small but growing community, this area truly is home to us and it is our mission to serve and give in a way that reflects that.
Building Community
In 2017, The Frazier Quarry, Inc. was honored to be awarded the Corporate Philanthropist award from The Community Foundation which honors “a corporation or its foundation that has demonstrated outstanding commitment to philanthropy through financial support, community involvement, and by encouraging others to take leadership roles in philanthropy.”
In recognition of our obligation to our community as well as a show of appreciation of our loyal customers, The Frazier Quarry, Inc. has made it a priority to give back to the community through donations, sponsorships, and other community efforts.
What are we doing to directly enhance our community in a positive manner?
- Scholarships to further the education of our youth in the community
- TFQ has several scholarship opportunities set up through the Rockingham Educational Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds and facilitating programs to enhance education for students.
- James Madison University’s Valley Scholars
- TFQ is a key contributor to this program that offers educational and cultural enrichment opportunities to first-generation, financially eligible students.
- Advocating for efficient transportation and smart planning both locally and regionally, and fostering dialogue to help improve public transportation issues
- Supporting projects and organizations which help tie the community together, from healthcare and rescue to sports and community centers
- Bike paths and greenways to foster a healthier, happier community
Look out for annual events we host that include
- Frazier Quarry 5K – A fundraiser benefiting various local needs in our community. Past recipients
have been Build Our Park, Friendship Industries, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA), Family Life Resource Center, Stephanie Van Nortwick Scholarship, and The Collins Center. - Work with local first responders for training needs in the quarry.
Frazier Quarry 5k
The Frazier Quarry 5K gives you the rare experience of running/walking the terrain at Frazier Quarry, located just five short miles from downtown Harrisonburg, VA. We welcome all skill levels at this chip timed trail adventure that features live music amplified by the natural acoustics at the quarry, a short uphill climb and a backdrop unlike any 5K you’ve ever experienced. Event is rain or shine. 100% of net proceeds benefit a carefully selected beneficiary.
Hope Field
A weekend full of 10+ acres of planted sunflowers that can be walked through and picked, for a suggested donation, with 100% of proceeds going to a rotation of beneficiaries. If you have any questions about Hope Field please direct them to sunflowers@frazierquarry.com.
